Discover the perfect blend of Stellenbosch's charm and serene landscapes as we unveil our TOP 5 picnic spots. From lush green grass, idyllic views and the perfect amount of sunshine - these lovely spots invite you to relax and enjoy the simple joys of a picnic outing.

Spier Wine Farm

The beautiful scenery around the Spier dam with views of the Helderberg Mountain provide the perfect setting for a gourmet picnic with plenty of trees for shade and a jungle gym to keep the little ones busy. At the Farm Cafe you can create your own picnic or you can pre-order a Gourmet Picnic, a day in advance. Spier is one of the stops on the Southern Route with Vine Hopper

Seasonal and vegetarian picnics, made with local, natural and organic produce, can be enjoyed by the dam, or under the oaks - the choice is all yours. Chairs, cushions, blankets and glasses can be rented on site.

Open daily from 9am - 5pm. Pre-booked baskets can be collected between 12pm and 2pm.

 

Warwick Wine Estate

This picturesque winery is renowned for their delectable picnics. The estate's lush green lawns are set up with spacious picnic spots besides the dam. Each spot is set up with an umbrella, blanket, lounging cushions, and a floor-seating table. Other unique picnic experiences on offer on the estate include the forest courtyard, the pods, the deck and the penthouse. Warwick Estate is also one of the stops on the Northern Route with Vine Hopper.

Monday – Sunday, from 11am – 5pm. Picnic baskets are ready for collection from 12pm.

 

Boschendal Wine Estate

One of South Africa’s oldest wine estates is located just a 20-minute drive from Bonne Esperance. The estate is rich in history and its old world charm is kept intact despite the contemporary tweaks. Boschendal takes pride in using only naturally grown produce from the estate’s gardens or locally sourced artisanal fare to create their delicious and wholesome picnic baskets. Boschendal is also one of the stops on the Eastern Route with Vine Hopper.

Rose Garden Picnic: Monday – Sunday: 12pm – 5pm

Werf Garden Picnic baskets:  Wednesday – Sunday: 12m – 5pm

 

 

Zorgvliet Wine Estate

The Zorgvliet picnic area is situated in the most charming setting where you can thoroughly relax in the sun or park under the shade of the trees. The Zorgvliet picnic area and restaurant has ample space for the kids to run around and play, while you experience the view and some award-winning wines. Zorgvliet is also one of the stops on the Eastern Route with Vine Hopper.

Closed during winter months

 

 

Zevenwacht

Zevenwacht has a range of delicious picnic baskets that are served in a paradisiacal setting on tree-shaded lawns sloping down to the lake. Enjoy a tasteful selection of bread and biscuits, cold meats, cheeses, and salads or pre-book a braai basket and cook your own meal over vine wood fires.

12pm to 5pm during the summer season.
