Stellenbosch offers a wide variety of shops and restaurants which are within walking distance from the guest house. Any shopping enthusiast will be sure to find a special Stellenbosch souvenir to take home at any one of the quaint boutiques, curio shops, markets, jewellery shops or antique shops. There is also a myriad of coffee shops, restaurants, delicatessens, and side-walk cafés, all serving delicious local fare, at which you can tickle your tastebuds.
Arts and Culture
Stellenbosch and its surrounds have a vibrant arts and culture scene. Stellenbosch University’s music department regularly holds music concerts of exceptionally high quality at its acoustically brilliant Endler Hall. During the summer season, the Oude Libertas amphitheatre hosts professional dance, opera, theatre and music concerts which are very popular with locals and tourists alike. The Klein Libertas theatre is popular with students as it regularly hosts plays and rock concerts. There are also a number of art galleries where select artists display their talents for members of the public to enjoy (and perhaps buy). The museums and tours of Stellenbosch’s historical buildings are also very popular with both young and old.
Wine Routes
Stellenbosch is world-renown for its top-class wines. The Cape Wine Route is any wine lover’s dream come true as there are roughly 300 wineries, most of which offer wine tastings and cellar tours, from which to choose for a great viticultural day out. With approximately 60 000ha of the surrounding areas constituting vineyards, there is certainly no lack of choice. The majestic beauty of the Stellenbosch and Hottentots-Holland mountains, together with the cool waters of False Bay on the horizon and the blankets of vineyards as far as the eye can see make a drive through the Wine Route an experience that will forever be etched in your memory.
Outdoor Activities
The sports enthusiast will definitely not feel left out here in the Winelands. The glorious mountains surrounding Stellenbosch set the scene for spectacular hiking and mountain biking trails designed to get the adrenaline pumping. The half-dozen golf courses in and around Stellenbosch are the dreams of professionals, while any sun worshipper would thoroughly enjoy a visit to one of the nearby beaches. Horse riding is also a very popular activity here and many farms have these facilities available.

With a dazzling melange of fine-dining, café-style, fusion and traditional South African restaurants, even the most discerning of foodies is bound to find a place at which they can treat themselves to the culinary delights which Stellenbosch has to offer.
