Our Restaurant Recommendations
Asta Italian Restaurant
Expect unpretentious plates of Italian classics. Begin with a panzanella or a few of the delicious vegetarian-friendly bruschettas. With starters dispatched, your choice is simple: pizza or pasta, and neither will disappoint.
Basic Bistro
Be sure to make a booking or arrive early. This is a very cosy, intimate restaurant where you can have a great meal with an affordable price tag. They offer fantastic burgers, pasta dishes and steak.

Decameron
Decameron’s philosophy on food is about authentic Italian dishes simply prepared from quality ingredients and fresh produce. Inside, the walls are decked with a massive array of paintings and prints of Italian origin and the Renaissance period.

De Vrije Burger
After the success of The Deck at Hidden Valley, Bertus and Mareli decided that such a great burger recipe needs to be celebrated. So they opened De Vrije Burger – the home of great burgers and fries in Stellenbosch. De Vrije Burger keeps it simple, but amazing.
De Warenmarkt
Just down the road from us is De Warenmarkt. Situated in a cherished 18th century historical building, this restaurant offers a deliciously extensive menu from meats, crepes, baked goods, craft beer, coffee, fresh Saldanha Bay oysters, sparkling Simonsig MCC & so much more.
Eike
The new kid on the block with the famous chef, Bertus Basson, at the helm. The menu celebrates South African cuisine inspired by Bertus’ childhood memories.
Genki
This authentic Japanese Sushi restaurant offers its visitors a delicious slice into typical everyday Japanese cuisine while soaking up the Stellenbosch vibe.

A lively restaurant offering a variety of authentic Lebanese cuisine. The owner is from Lebanese and mediterranean origin and has recipe’s passed down from his grandmother to your plate.
Mertia
The menu at MERTIA has deep roots in the tradition of cooking with local flavours and fresh, organic ingredients, with a nod to local heritage. Drawing from their combined experiences, the menu will also be infused with Marais and Matt’s global influences, presented in a relaxed, accessible way, whether dining at our wine and snack bar or at the table.

Jess van Dyk and Dimitri Hadzigrigoriou’s new restaurant in Stellenbosch has transformed the town’s Old Post Office into an elegant space serving flavour-packed small plates.
